BEFORE YOUR FAMILY SESSION
Before your session we correspond over email (or phone if preferred) about your session inspirations or what you hope to accomplish at your session. Some clients have a lot of session goals, while others wish to let things unravel naturally at their session. I ensure that you understand what is included in your session, so there are no surprises in the end. We pin down a date for your session and I link you to the portrait agreement with retainer payment ($50) to reserve your date. I also link you to a list of my favorite photography locations if the session is not in your home. I provide you with a wardrobe planning guide and session sucess tip list for parents with small kids. Many clients share their wardrobe or session inspirations with me prior to their session-this opens a dialoge on possible throw blankets, chairs, or items, that I can bring a long to compliment your session.
BEFORE YOUR NEWBORN SESSION
Before your session we correspond over email (or phone if preferred) about your session inspirations or what you hope to accomplish at your session. Some clients have a lot of session goals, while others wish to let things unravel naturally at their session. I ensure that you understand what is included in your session, so there are no surprises in the end. I keep your due date on file, I only take a select number of newborn bookings per month to ensure many options for you when baby arrives. I stay in touch with you as your due date approaches and we set a "most likely" session date. Once baby arrives, we make adjustments as needed to accommodate baby and mama. I also provide you with a wardrobe planning tips and am available for any questions you might have in regards to wardrobe. Lastly, you are provided with a session planning tip list to help your little one(s) have a smooth session.
THE DAY OF YOUR FAMILY/CHILD SESSION
For home sessions, I will ask for a tour of the places you had in mind for your session and view the outfits you have selected for your session. I begin on-location sessions car side where I can take a look at the outfits selected for your session-this will allow me to time and plan the location setting accordingly. Best behavior from your children is not needed for a successful session. We just need to ensure that children are safe, stay clean (as much as possible), and don't feel like portraits are a chore. I try to make the session fun for kids while still achieving imagery worthy of grandma's walls. The session tip list provided before your session will give parents tips for a successful session with little children. During your session I will provide you with posing instructions to help us achieve a variety of natural poses. I want you to feel and look natural in front of the lens. All of my poses unravel into prompted candid moments, to capture your unique family chemistry. This flow posing process allows little ones to get their wiggles out throughout the session and keeps smiles fresh.
THE DAY OF YOUR NEWBORN SESSION
I come with my camera gear and my gear/swaddles/blankets/head bands/fresh florals or greenery/stuff to aid the session, if needed. Sometimes I don't need to use any of my items and other times we use half of it-it just depends on how lifestyle influenced the session is or your own stash of stuff. I favor lifestyle posing and a more natural approach to newborn documentation. I will ask for a tour of the places in your home you had in mind for your session and view the outfits you have selected for your session. Typically parents will document baby/family in the nursery and master bedroom. If you are not wishing to document your whole family and home at the session, simply provide some open space for a newborn posing bag nearby a well lit window. Some parents have a Pinboard they wish to share before we begin the session. Newborn sessions typically take 1-2.5 hours to complete.
AFTER YOUR SESSION
Seven to ten days after your session I email you a link to your private on-line viewing album. The images in this first viewing gallery are un-edited. These images look pretty good SOOC (straight out of camera), so you will be able to clearly decide which ones that pull the most at your heart strings. You simply "favorite" the ones you want me to fully edit for you to keep. I retouch blemishes and boo-boos. I adjust lighting and make needed alterations to the background. I give imagery in modern color and black and white. I am not a big fan of filters, so you won't see me getting crazy with those on your images. Once you complete your selection, it takes 3-7 days to edit your batch and provide you with a high-resolution download album. Start to finish, the process takes 2.5 weeks from your session date to get digital files in your hands. Delivering imagery on time is important to me.
